The Free Edge of the Nail, called also Free Margin, is the part of the Nail Plate that protrudes from the Nail Bed.
It is therefore a "dead" and painless part of the nail.
This part of the nail, often cited in the Nail Extension field , is important in the case of Nail Extensions with the ”Sculpting” method , i.e. with the use of Nail Adhesives : only with a sufficiently long Free Edge, in fact, it is possible to opt for this professional technique ofNail Extension.
This term is also often used when we talk of French Manicure: the Free Edge of the Nail, in fact, will be decorated to give life to a French taking into account its proportions.
